Jussie Smollett’s spokesperson said the actor will not be on “Empire” during the beginning of the season. Yet the show has extended Smollett’s contract, keeping his character’s future open. Smollett thanked FOX, those working for empire, and his fan for their “unwavering support.” According to Extra, Fox Entertainment and 20th Century Fox TV confirmed the spokesperson statement. This comes after Smollett’s charges over staging a hate crime were dropped.
