Antofagasta city and beach in Chile

Antofagasta is a port city and regional capital in a mining area of ​​the Atacama Desert, in northern Chile. It is known for its copper production. To the north of the city, on the Pacific coast, is the La Portada Natural Monument. This huge natural arch just off the coast shelters seagulls, pelicans and, occasionally, seals and dolphins. To the southeast of the city, in the Atacama Desert, there is the "Mano del Desierto", a large one-hand sculpture.
