“Shazam!” did well its opening weekend with an estimated $53.4 million at the domestic box office. According to Business Insider, the film also did well overseas, making over $158 million globally. The comedic superhero film opened in 60 markets, including in China, where it made $30.9 million. The film, described as a mix between “Big” and “The Goonies” has a 91 percent Rotten Tomatoes score. Such success with “Shazam!” shows DC superhero films coexisting with Marvel film.
