As Trump began gaining ground in the 2016 presidential election, the left -- and this includes both Democrat politicians and the demonstrably left-wing media -- began portraying him as an ignorant, boorish oaf, and his supporters as allegedly toothless "hillbillies" and "rednecks."

Despite relentless attacks by the left, Trump won, and with a notable share of minority votes to boot. And since his inauguration in early 2017, his support among minorities has also risen, with recent polls from multiple pollsters showing him enjoying a 50 percent approval rating among Hispanics and one Rasmussen poll from last year showing him with a 36 percent approval rating among blacks.
