Smoking after a cancer diagnosis can lead to soaring healthcare costs, a new study says.
On average, smoking after a cancer diagnosis can lift costs by an additional $11,000 per patient.
The Surgeon General's Report says it raises the risk of dying from cancer and smoke-related diseases.
It's the first time that the economic burden of smoking on cancer treatment has been estimated.
The researchers estimated the extra costs associated with smoking, says UPI.com.
