Disney's Dumbo isn't exactly taking flight at the North American box office.
The Walt Disney Co. said that the Tim Burton-directed film has earned an estimated $45m domestically against a $170m production budget.
According to Channel 24, the remake of the 1941 animated film has received mixed to negative reviews from critics.
‘Dumbo’ has a 54 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
We think it's a solid start. We're encouraged and hopeful with audience word of mouth.
Cathleen Taff, Disney's president of theatrical distribution
Disney has two other high-profile live-action remakes coming out this year: Aladdin (May 24) and The Lion King (19 July).
