UPDATE: Deadly fire near downtown Las Vegas

One person is dead and another person is in the hospital after an apartment caught fire near 1st Street and Gass Avenue. Firefighters say a sofa caught fire in the building and that no smoke alarms were installed in the home. Las Vegas Fire and Rescue says they will provide free smoke detectors, and install them, to people who need them.
