Traci Ackerman, a former art teacher and volunteer at Penny-Burchfield Art Gallery had an appreciation for Charles Burchfiled's 1920's wallpaper designs and wanted to have some of them re-created. She says "everytime I was looking at another design I was thinking I would put this in my house today. Like, these have to be made again." She thought about hiring a company to do the work, but then decided to do it herself. She Launched Red Disk Studios. The wallpaper is silk screened by hand, adding one layer of color at a time. Traci uses C 2 Paint and works in a space provided by the local paint company. Red Disk produced=s about ten designs now, but they are adding more designs and more artists all the time. You can see some of Traci Ackerman's handiwork at this year's Decorator's Show House beginning April 27th. You =can get more information about Traci's work at her website.
