Puppy is way too cute to be reprimanded properly

River is a mischievous puppy who has a face too adorable to be angry with. She is far too intelligent and too sneaky for her own good. When her owner, Dave went downstairs to ride the stationary bike in the basement, he left River in the living room with a selection of chew toys, rubber bones, balls, and a little liver treat. River seemed to understand the agreement that she would be expected to behave while he was gone. She was last seen lying on her fluffy dog bed in front of the fireplace contentedly.

But after 20 minutes, Dave was pretty sure something was wrong. River had been extremely quiet for a little too long. Dave snuck up the stairs and had a look in the living room and he saw exactly why River had been so quiet. She had gotten into the bathroom and managed to poke her nose into the cupboard where rolls of toilet paper were kept. Silently, River had taken a new roll and padded quietly down the hall to take it back to her bed. This is where she takes all of her stolen property to chew it.

In the few minutes that she was unsupervised, River had completely destroyed a roll of toilet paper and had also started to work on a roll of duct tape. River wasn’t taking Dave seriously when he tried to reprimand her harshly. River’s face is just way too adorable to put any effort into the scolding. River is actually a rescued dog, having found her way into her new family two months ago after a near brush with death two days before Christmas. She belonged to a loving couple and their children who treated her like a true family member, but she developed very complicated health problems that would make treatment difficult to manage and extremely costly. Too beautiful a soul to be euthanized, a last minute decision was made for the veterinary assistant and her mother, also a veterinarian, to take River and give her the care that she deserved. She has since been diagnosed with a very rare heart condition as well as having some other challenges. Her new family will nurse her along until she is able to undergo heart surgery to correct the most serious problem. River is enjoying a good life with lots of attention, lots of love, and frequent walks in the forest nearby with her new dog friend, an older great Dane.

In the next few months, Dave will try to teach River how to pick up her mess and throw it in the garbage.
