You might have seen a bunch of YouTube videos which features complicated machines or gadgets doing simple tasks just in an indirect and over complicated way. This type of machine is known as Rube Goldberg machine named after the American cartoonist, Rube Goldberg, whose cartoons often portrayed such machines. Michigan based carpenter Matt Thompson has always broken the internet with his Rube Goldberg machines like the beer dispensing chair shaped as Michigan state and the automatic dog petter. This time Thompson has returned with a new Rube Goldberg machine which is the combination of the chair and the automatic dog petter.

After revealing his automatic dog petter to the internet, Thompson thought of a chair which can do the same thing to the humans but in a Rube Goldberg way. And here we are, on March 4, 2019, Thompson revealed his latest Rube Goldberg machine which is a back scratching chair for humans with a footrest and a head massager.

Thompson's back scratching chair is designed as an Adirondack chair. The number one feature of the chair is obviously its back-scratching mechanism which is performed by two hands made out of wood giving you the optimal back scratch you need after a long day.

But back scratching is not enough, you also need something for the head. That's were the other feature comes in the picture which is a scalp massager dangling over the head area using a wooden support plank. While getting a good back scratch, reward yourself with a good head massage simultaneously. But it doesn't end there, the back-scratching chair also has an extension which connects to the chair with a rotating footrest to massage the foot soles. The machine is powered by a single motor and performs every feature with the help of several different sized gears made out of wood.

Thompson's back scratching chair is also now featured in Tim’s Rejects on TMZ. The video of Thompson's back scratching chair has gained over 3 million views on LADbible's Facebook page. People are commenting that Thompson's back scratching chair looks like some kind of medieval torture device rather than a way to relax.

Michigan based carpenter Matt Thompson of Thompson Woodworks gained his internet fame with his first chair which was shaped as Michigan state and had a beer dispensing system. Then Thompson returned with an automatic dog petter for his two dogs, Bonnie and Clyde. The automatic dog petter was even acknowledged by Jennifer George, granddaughter of Rube Goldberg.
