Ava DuVernay has come out against a campaign by Steven Spielberg to change Academy Awards eligibility rules.
SFGate reports Spielberg wants to keep Netflix and other streaming services films out of the Oscars race.
The directing legend is also opposed to films that get a short theatrical release just for the sake of qualifying.
DuVernay has an upcoming limited series about the Central Park Five, “When They See Us,” coming out on Netflix in May.
