A fire has displaced many senior residents of the Imperial Condominium in the 3600 block of Clarks Lane in Baltimore. Smoke was seeing coming the six story complex. Witness have said the smoke was seen from either a second, or third floor unit, WMAR 2 News Jeff Hager reported from the scene. One person was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, said Blair Adams, a spokesperson for the Baltimore Fire Department. “We have a lot of seniors that live in this particular building so we had to go up to each and every door just to make sure that they were evacuated,” Adams said. Adams said some residents had to be brought down to the ground floor through the stairwells, as elevators were disabled, a particular challenge when some residents were confined to wheel chairs or had limited mobility. Others were able to make their way to the lobby while the elevators still operated. Heated tents were brought in to provide shelter as the fire department worked to clear the building. The snowy weather presented additional challenges to both firefighters and residents now waiting to see if they can return to their apartments.
