As the cost of living continues to skyrocket and minimum wage stays stagnant, consumers of all ages need to find useful ways to budget, cut corners, and use coupons in order to survive in this capitalist society. There are certain financial tips and tricks, such as setting aside 10% of your income every month, that are kind of obvious but there are other DIY (Do It Yourself) tips that you can employ in order to save those dollars!

You can also create a cool feathered lampshade. This one might be a little more time consuming but it will certainly be worth your while. Get an empty water bottle jug (preferably a gallon jug.) Proceed by removing the bottom of the jug. Next, get a whole bunch of plastic spoons and cut off the handle. Place some hot glue on the broken handle of the spoon. Glue it onto the water bottle with the spoon facing upwards (if the bottleneck were to be standing on the bottom as shown in the picture.) Glue it all the way around and voila! You’ve got a feathered lampshade! And here's another awesome lampshade idea!

Find an old tattered lampshade that you want to replace and renew. Remove the beaten up lampshade and replace it with a piece of construction paper. Wrap it around the metal ring of the lampshade and then glue the ends together.

Print out an image that you want replicated on your light source. Whether it’s a landscape or an animal or space, it doesn’t really matter. Using a tiny pin, poke the holes around the landscape. In essence, create the landscape or scenery by poking tiny holes around the image/stencil. Remove the image that you placed around the construction paper and now when you go to turn on the light of the lampshade you should get an illuminated desired scenery.
