Cheeky squirrel sneaks peanuts in front of blind Great Dane

Briva is an elderly Great Dane who loves the cottage. In her youth, she would run on the path, splash in the water, and even chase the squirrels. In fact, the squirrels all knew when she arrived on the island that they were better to stay high in the trees ad keep a safe distance. Briva kept them all in line and they didn't dare set foot on the deck of the cottage.
Now that Briva is in her golden years, she spends a lot of her day just lying in the sun, listening to the birds, and relaxing. She doesn't get moving until later in the day when her old muscles have warmed up and she doesn't move as quickly either. She is either too tired or too dignified to chase rodents, no matter how daring they are. Briva has also lost most of her eyesight. She sees shadows and can pick out large objects and make her way around pretty well, but she can't see a squirrel in front of her anymore.

This cheeky little fellow seems to know that Briva cannot see him. He sees the peanuts that have been left on the deck and he carefully makes his way around to reach them. There is nothing wrong with Briva's nose or her ears though, and she can tell that there are little feet scratching on the wood. She can probably even smell him.

The little daredevil sees Briva's head swivel around occasionally and he's off like a shot, still wary, even though he doesn't waste much time before coming back. He seems to know that she can't quite focus on him if he dashes back and forth quickly. This squirrel keeps coming back for more, convinced that the peanuts are worth the risk, and he's confident that his acceleration is much better than that of a sleepy old dog.
