HB8002 solutions, affordability, and our first cars

We’ve been hearing about possible solutions to the serious problem of HB8002, the zoning law that would put large housing units in small towns. However, the 10th amendment to the CT State Constitution says that principle of Home Rule by individual towns applies, and Connecticut zoning commission statute 8–2 states that zoning authority rest with each municipality.

Here are the steps for your town to take which has already been applied in Easton [Go Easton!!!] :

Proclamation – a symbolic public statement of the town’s position.

Resolution – a formal stance adopted by the town’s governing body.

Ordinance – constitutional zoning, a binding local law to assert municipal authority
