FAITH: IT’S ABOUT BELIEVING MORE THAN WHAT WE SEE

11 Now faith is the [a]substance of things hoped for, the [b]evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.3 By faith we understand that the [c]worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

I saw these questions out of this morning's devotional, and they are really, really getting me to think about not just simply what faith means, but what it's about. It's certainly not about the fact that we need to prove every truth with our eyes alone, but that we need to be willing to believe beyond what we see with our human eyes. I think that's why these questions from this morning's devotional are not just challenging but really getting me to think about what faith truly is and what it isn't. Please read these questions carefully, and I pray that God will both challenge and encourage your heart through them.

Tonight, my friends, I'd like to share some things about the reality of faith, what God's word says about faith, through this vlog I'd like to share with all of you tonight, and I pray that you listen to what I have to say. I most of all pray that what I share with you will encourage you to see that faith is about believing more than what you see with your physical eyes, and that what God shows you will help you see what faith truly is. So, my friends, as I close this post with all of you tonight, I want to challenge you to please think about these questions, and I pray that God will help you in how you respond to and deal with them. In particular, I ask God to help you see where you struggle with faith, not as a negative thing, but as one where God can help you turn whatever you're struggling with faith wise, into something that strengthens your trust in Him beyond what you can imagine. I remember once learning that doubt in of itself is in a sin, but it can be turned into faith if we give that doubt to God, and I believe that to be true with our struggles with faith as well. We are all card-carrying skeptics, that base what we believe on what we can see, here, taste, smell, and touch, but God wants us to see beyond the physical senses, and to trust the spiritual senses He’s given us. Yes, as Winn Collier, this morning's devotional writer states so very well, “It’s often difficult to trust what we can't touch or see or completely comprehend. But our faith in Christ, made possible by the Spirit, helps us to believe more than we can see.” That in turn helps us trust God more confidently, and I think truly live by faith and not by sight.
