Aftyn Behn Channels Her Inner Nagging Karen During Concession Call To Matt Van Epps

Posted • December 3, 2025: Aftyn Behn, as evidenced by her past comments and actions, wasn't exactly the most emotionally stable individual the Democrats could have had running in Tennessee's 7th Congressional District special election. Whether it was rage-hating Nashville, a city she would have represented had she actually won last evening, voicing support for people burning down police stations, or screeching like a lunatic after being forcibly removed from the office of Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee (R), she exuded all the subtle stability of a Kathy Bates as Annie Wilkes in "Misery." So it comes as no surprise that Behn couldn't simply make a civil concession call to the winner of the election, Republican Matt Van Epps. Nope, she felt entitled, having just been trounced (more on this later), to lecture the winner and make demands. This, according to Behn herself.

Aftyn Behn: “I called the Congressman-elect, Matt Van Epps, and I had one question for him," she told a crowd of supporters after the loss. "What will define what happens next? Do not let the Affordable Care Act subsidies expire. Do not raise health care costs for working families in Tennessee.” —— You just lost an election, Aftyn. Nobody wants to hear your demands, your wish list on ObamaCare. The winner of the election doesn't need your guidance; he's doing just fine. The voters made that clear. The loser does not get to dictate what the winner does going forward. Behn, of course, feels entitled here. Why? Because Democrats and the media spent months insisting this race was within reach for the so-called "AOC of Tennessee." They were going to stake a claim to moral victories no matter what. Van Epps, however, won going away. By nearly 9 points. Not the two-point difference being suggested ahead of election day.

Democrats wanted a close race so they could claim a participation trophy. To claim they were the ones with momentum and a mandate. But they didn't even get close. Does this mean Republicans should rest easy heading into the midterms? Of course not. Was the panic overblown? Definitively. —— Mike Gallagher @GallagherShow: “Ignore the Republican doomsayers and panicans. The polls said Van Epps had a two point lead; he won by nearly ten. In a special election on a random Tuesday in December. Without Trump on the ballot. Calm down and take the decisive win, dummies.” —— Newt Gingrich @newtgingrich: “The Republican win by almost ten per cent in the tennessee special election must have been a huge disappointment to all the Trump haters. They are desperate for signs the Trump coalition is collapsing. Matt Van Epps victory is s good reminder that hard working smart candidates with good ideas can beat big government socialists with weird values. A pretty good model for next year.” (…)
