In March of 1996, a judge and jury found Erik and Lyle Menendez guilty of first degree murder of their parents, Jose and Kitty Menendez. Conversely in 1995, a judge and jury found O. J. Simpson not guilty in the brutal stabbing murders of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown-Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.
Both cases were widely publicized around the world. There were millions of people who passed judgment on the guilt or innocence of the parties involved. I’m sure some of these judgments were based on a God given need for justice. However, sadly, some of the judgments were simply based on the color of a man’s skin or his social or financial standing.
In Matthew Chapter 7. Jesus reacted to the latter type of judgment. I think in essence Jesus was asking, “Who made you judge and jury?”
