Our Game Now Relies on an Abandoned Asset. What Could Go Wrong?

Our game now relies on an abandoned landscape material. What could possibly go wrong?

This week we tested IA Scatter properly (finally), discovered that using Unreal Engine tools the way they’re intended actually improves FPS (shocking), and found a landscape material that performs beautifully… but hasn’t been updated since the pre-nanite era. So yes, our game now runs at 90 FPS, and yes, we are absolutely holding it together with duct tape and hope.

But hey — slow progress is still progress. One more house built, one more optimization lesson learned, and one more week closer to finishing this game.

Thanks for hanging out with us, and Happy Week 19!
