CS #142 The Pretender

Kenneth Holden (Albert Dekker), a corrupt investment banker, embezzles a large sum of money from his wealthiest client's estate. To cover his crime, he plans to marry the heiress, Claire Worthington (Catherine Craig). When Claire reveals she is already engaged to an unknown man, a desperate Holden hires a hitman to eliminate the fiancé. A twist of fate occurs when Claire changes her mind and marries Holden, leading to his picture appearing in the newspaper as her new husband. Holden then realizes he has inadvertently made himself the target of his own hired assassin.
