The Head is an American science-fiction adult animated television series created by Eric Fogel for MTV, originally airing as part of the network's Oddities programming block from December 19, 1994, to March 12, 1996.
The series follows Jim, a trade-school student in New York City, who awakens to find his cranium has enlarged to mammoth proportions.
A week later, Roy, a purple alien with a quirky sense of humor, emerges from Jim's head.
Roy is on a mission to save Earth from a power-hungry alien named Gork, belonging to a parasitic race that destroyed Roy's planet; Roy's own species is mutualistic.

The first season, consisting of 13 episodes, aired in 1994–1995 and followed a serialized narrative where Jim and Roy worked to reassemble Roy's Anti-Invasion Machine, broken into five pieces during his arrival on Earth.
The second season, which aired from February 6 to March 12, 1996, shifted focus to the adventures of the Human Anomaly support group, a collection of individuals with unusual physical traits, including Ray (with a lawnmower blade in his skull), Mona (a woman with a short tail), Ivan (a Russian with a mouth in his chest), Raquel (with a large nose and buckteeth), Earl (who has a fishbowl in his mouth), Chin (a long-limbed former freak show performer), and Shane Blackman, the group's leader.
The second season featured a different format, with each episode beginning with a secondary opening sequence introducing the characters.

The series was released on DVD on December 15, 2009, and later became available on streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime Video.
It was the first voice acting role for John DiMaggio.
The show was created by Eric Fogel, who also created Celebrity Deathmatch, and is set in the same universe as Beavis and Butt-Head, though it features a more serious tone and dry humor.
The initial five-minute Liquid Television segment that introduced the series was followed by the full series on MTV.
