There have been a pattern of thefts of ATM's. The video shows two separate heists. Lt. Mark Cleverdon of the South Windsor Police Department stated police were contacted by a passerby just before 2 a.m. who reported that the door at the Exxon Gas Station was ripped off. When officers responded they found that the ATM had been stolen.

In a separate incident, officers responded to a Mobil gas station when two alarms were tripped indicating a burglary was taking place and that glass at the business had been broken, according to Lt. Kyle A. Noddin of the Farmington Police Department. The responding officers found that the front door had been ripped off its hinges and that the store’s ATM was missing.

The initial investigation finds that three people in masks arrives at the gas station in a dark blue Volvo SUV and removed the ATM before leaving the area. The surveillance videos show the individuals breaking into the gas station and attaching a cable to the ATM before the vehicle is used to pull it free and out of the business. The individuals can then be seen loading the ATM into the back of the SUV and leaving the area.

Investigators believe the same individuals could be responsible for similar overnight burglaries at gas stations in South Windsor and Simsbury where ATMs were also stolen, Noddin said.

Cleverdon said South Windsor police are working with investigators from Farmington and Simsbury.

The incident remains under investigation.
