In this past clip from My Expert Opinion Ep #244 hip-hop legend Buckshot of Black Moon and Boot Camp Clik sits down with Math Hoffa to clarify the controversial 1990s tension and perceived beef between his crew (Duck Down Records) and The Notorious B.I.G. and Bad Boy Records.

Buckshot explains that despite Biggie's mother being his brother's godmother, a conflict arose from the notorious "pistol-whipping" studio incident and the subsequent controversial music video where the crew appeared to run Biggie off stage.

Buckshot reveals the internal intention was not a personal attack on Biggie, but a general artistic statement directed at "everybody who had a hot record" at the time (including Montell Jordan) to establish their rugged, street-level identity. He firmly states the studio incident was perpetrated by a bodyguard and was not sanctioned by Biggie himself.

Ultimately, Buckshot argues that the entire situation was non-personal drama that "got out of hand" due to "street n****" and pride, and was heavily amplified and "orchestrated" by the media and industry figures who sensationalized the events, leading to a decade-defining East Coast conflict.
