Outrage After National Guard Member’s Death Attributed to Kathy Hochul’s Policies

A case in Indiana has sparked strong criticism against New York Governor Kathy Hochul, after an illegal immigrant —identified as Goderdzi Gujabize, originally from the country of Georgia and holding a New York–issued CDL— caused the death of a member of the Indiana National Guard.

Critics argue that Hochul’s policies, including the Green Light law and her decision to make New York a “sanctuary state,” allow illegal immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses and commercial licenses to operate heavy vehicles, while also hindering federal authorities’ access to New York DMV records.

This case is not believed to be isolated. In the past week alone, 30 illegal immigrants with New York licenses were arrested in a DHS operation, fueling accusations that these measures endanger public safety.

For detractors, the death of the National Guard service member is a tragedy that underscores what they describe as the deadly consequences of Hochul’s immigration policies.
