These days, though, Sammys are no longer the Swiss army knives of dogs, and will generally only fall back on their working class roots in order to please their humans, or out of a deep-seated instinct to fulfill their original working dog destiny. Truth be told, most of them these days prefer lolling about with their adoring humans, getting their lustrous white coats brushed and fussed over until they shine with a gorgeous high gloss. Clearly the Samoyed in this video, however, retains some ancestral memory of his original purpose, and he’s taking to these curious cows like a duck takes to water. The cows also seem more than willing to befriend this eager pup (although, being older and fully mature, they’re understandably a bit more reserved), and the whole thing makes for a spectacle that’s as heartwarming as it is entirely entertaining.

There’s very little in life as endearing as inter-species friendships, which is probably why so many humans love watching our four-legged friends on camera in the first place.
