Episode 1367: We are commanded to live for the gospel and the glory of God.
Hello everyone. In today's Bible study we continue looking into today's Believer living under grace and our relationship with the law.
What we continue to discover is absolutely shocking to SOME BELIEVERS AND ALL UNBELIEVERS. Our relationship with the law is actually terminated by God. Oh no, I don't mean that we are not to obey the Lord and neither does the scriptures teach such foolishness.
What the scriptures teach is that we have a higher form of living because it is God the Holy Spirit living our lives for us and through us. The believer today lives under the Law of the Spirit of LIfe which is the law the governs all things in the Kingdom of God and His Christ. This is diametrically opposite of the law of sin and death which is in the kingdom of Satan.
Our focus today will be on the Kingdom of Christ and how Believers today are to interact with the world, with unbelievers, and with fellow Believers.
The scriptures teaches that Believers should live for an audience of One, the One who died and raised Himself from the dead as payment for our sins and Author of our Life.
Take the two scripture passages together and you will clearly see what the LORD God has instructed us to do concerning this issue of what we allow in our lives.
1 Corinthians 10:23-33 (NKJV) All to the Glory of God
23 All things are lawful for me, but not all things are helpful; all things are lawful for me, but not all things edify. 24 Let no one seek his own, but each one the other’s well-being.
25 Eat whatever is sold in the meat market, asking no questions for conscience’ sake; 26 for “the earth is the LORD’S, and all its fullness.”
27 If any of those who do not believe invites you to dinner, and you desire to go, eat whatever is set before you, asking no question for conscience’ sake. 28 But if anyone says to you, “This was offered to idols,” do not eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for conscience’ sake; for “the earth is the LORD’S, and all its fullness.” 29 “Conscience,” I say, not your own, but that of the other. For why is my liberty judged by another man’s conscience? 30 But if I partake with thanks, why am I evil spoken of for the food over which I give thanks?
31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, DO ALL TO THE GLORY OF GOD. 32 Give no offense, either to the Jews or to the Greeks or to the church of God, 33 just as I also please all men in all things, not seeking my own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
Romans 14:1-13 (NKJV) 1 Receive one who is weak in the faith, but not to disputes over doubtful things. 2 For one believes he may eat all things, but he who is weak eats only vegetables. 3 Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat, and let not him who does not eat judge him who eats; for God has received him. 4 Who are you to judge another’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls. Indeed, he will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand.
5 One person esteems one day above another; another esteems every day alike. Let each be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 He who observes the day, observes it to the Lord; and he who does not observe the day, to the Lord he does not observe it. He who eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he who does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and gives God thanks. 7 For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. 8 For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living. 10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you show contempt for your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written:
“As I live, says the LORD,
Every knee shall bow to Me,
And every tongue shall confess to God.”
12 So then each of us shall give account of himself to God. 13 Therefore let us not judge one another anymore, but rather resolve this, not to put a stumbling block or a cause to fall in our brother’s way.
Now do you understand why and how you should live as a child of the Most High God?
Tonight's study is 1 hour and 5 minutes in duration. I have broken it into seven segments. This is segment 1 of 7 titled We are commanded to live for the gospel and the glory of God.
