Nicholas Winton was a British stockbroker and humanitarian who secretly organized the rescue of 669 children, mostly Jewish, from Nazi-occupied Czechoslovakia before World War II, an effort known as part of the Kindertransport.

The Kindertransport was an organised rescue effort of children from Nazi-controlled territory that took place in 1938–39 during the nine months prior to the Second World War. The United Kingdom took in nearly 10,000 children, most of them Jewish, from Germany, Austria, occupied Czechoslovakia and the Free City of Danzig.

This heroism remained unknown for many years, but in 1988, a BBC program revealed the children he saved and their stories.

Sir Nicholas Winton is remembered as one of the unforgettable heroes in human history. He died in 2015 at the age of 106.
