COMPANY DIRECTORS: One Login/Digital ID Issue: 18 November Was The Start, Not Your Deadline.

👉 How To Find Out When New Rules Say You Need to Verify Identity, & Why & How To Avoid One Login...

We wanted to make a quick video for Company Directors who are worried about the One Login and Digital ID issue, because there has been some confusion about the 18 November date and what it actually means.

To be clear: 18 November was not THE deadline.

Rather, 18 November was the beginning of a 12-month phase-in of the new director verification rules.

👉How It Works

For most existing directors, your verification deadline is tied to your company’s next confirmation statement submitted after 18 November 2025.

This means your personal deadline varies, depending on your company’s existing filing cycle. According to the Government website, “Your confirmation statement is due usually a year after either: the date your company incorporated (or) the date you filed your last confirmation statement… (and) You can file your confirmation statement up to 14 days after the due date.”

👉How To Find Your Actual Deadline (as the video demonstrates)

Step 1: Go to the Companies House website:
https://find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/

Step 2: Search your name.

Step 3: Open your record and look for “Identity verification due.”
That date is your real deadline.
If you’re a director of more than one company, your effective deadline is the earliest “Identity verification due” date across all of them.

👉Concerns About One Login

Together is very concerned that One Login effectively creates a government-controlled Digital ID system.

We are in ongoing contact with Companies House, we’ve taken legal advice, and we continue to examine what can be done.

Our concerns are not only around civil liberties but also about security, where the problems with One Login have been well-documented.

Given the issues already reported around One Login, we recommend that directors - and the public generally - avoid using One Login.

For directors who want to know their options right now, it appears there is an alternative route that stays fully within the law:

This is to use what’s called an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) - for example, many accountants can do this - who can complete verification on a director’s behalf, without using One Login.

👉Toolkit

We explain this option in detail in our Directors’ Toolkit - which includes information, templates to contact your accountant or to find an ACSP - available at:

Hope that’s helpful - please make sure you join the Together mailing list at the campaign page too, so we can keep you informed of any developments.
