Fire erupts at UN Cop30 conference in Brazil sending delegates fleeing

A massive fire broke out at the COP30 climate summit in Belém, Brazil, forcing a mass evacuation of hundreds, including foreign ministers.

The blaze, which may have started from a generator failure or short circuit near the China pavilion, spread to multiple neighboring pavilions, sending thick smoke through the venue.

Dozens of firefighters responded, and while no one was burned, many were treated for smoke inhalation, leaving attendees traumatized.

This incident follows earlier chaos at the summit when protesters clashed violently with security, highlighting ongoing safety concerns, the U.S. Sun has reported.

Authorities confirmed the fire is now under control, and emergency crews cleared the charred venue while attendees waited outside in heat and humidity.
