The Head is an American science-fiction adult animated television series created by Eric Fogel for MTV, originally airing as part of the network's Oddities programming block from December 19, 1994, to March 12, 1996.
The series follows Jim, a trade-school student in New York City, who awakens to find his cranium has enlarged to mammoth proportions.
A week later, Roy, a purple alien with a quirky sense of humor, emerges from Jim's head.
Roy, a Srelkit Nerb, had taken refuge in Jim's head to adapt to Earth's environment while on a mission to save the planet from a power-hungry alien named Gork, who leads a parasitic alien race.

The show's first season, consisting of 13 episodes, was serialized and focused on Jim and Roy's efforts to reassemble Roy's Anti-Invasion Machine, which had been broken into five pieces during his arrival on Earth.
The second season, comprising eight episodes, shifted focus to the adventures of the Human Anomalies—Jim's group of friends with unusual physical traits—such as Ray, who has a lawnmower blade in his skull, and Mona, a woman with a short tail.
The series was released on DVD on December 15, 2009, and reruns were briefly aired on MTV2 in August 2009.
It was followed by another Oddities series, The Maxx, and is set in the same universe as Beavis and Butt-Head, though with a more serious tone and dry humor.

The show was created by Eric Fogel, who also served as a voice actor for Roy, and featured voices from Jason Candler, Maia Danziger, and Dick Rodstein.
The series was produced by MTV Animation and Fogelmania Productions, with executive production by Abby Terkuhle.
The Head was notable for being the first voice acting role for John DiMaggio.
The series aired in various international markets under different titles, including "O Cabeção" in Brazil and "Голова" in Russia.
