I’m back in Guatemala this week to meet with the builder, sign the contract for our future home, and make another attempt at filing my residency. But as always, daily life here has its surprises — like when the water stops, and suddenly every small thing becomes a reminder of what it really means to adjust abroad.

There’s something humbling about fixing small problems, clearing out old boxes, and realizing that the “real life” part of moving overseas doesn’t start when everything’s perfect… it starts when things don’t go as planned.
