Kolby Testimony.

Today was a special day for me in the ministry. I spent time with my friend Kolby, someone I met almost three years ago when he was at one of the lowest points of his life. Our first meeting was in the cafeteria line at the hospital. I bought him a lunch, talked with him for a while, and kept checking on him in the weeks that followed. At the time I had no idea how important that small moment would become.

This morning I went to Kolby’s place to visit him. He had called and said he had something for my outreach. When I arrived, he handed me a massive bag filled with blankets, clothes, and dishes.

Years ago Kolby lived outside homeless beside a dumpster. Today he is donating a large amount of clothing and household items to help others who are struggling. That is God’s grace working in a life.

After picking up the donations, I drove Kolby around to run a few errands. While we were in the car, we recorded a short testimony together. Here is what he shared.

Kolby:
“Your ministry helped me in many ways. It helped me overcome addiction and helped me get housing. The list goes on. I have known you for over two years, almost three. You were there at the hospital just before my daughter passed away. You prayed with me and helped me get through that. When I first met you I was at my lowest. If anyone is struggling and needs help, get hold of this guy. He will help you.”

Listening to him talk reminded me again that the Lord truly has His hand on this young man. God has been softening his heart through the gospel, through prayer, and through steady friendship over these past years. Watching him give so generously today felt like a full-circle moment. The same man who once had nothing and no hope is now helping lift others up.

This is why I do street ministry. Jesus steps into the darkest places, finds people who feel forgotten, and begins a new story. He restores what was broken. He gives strength to those who have lost everything. And He brings people together at exactly the right time.

I thank God for the day I met Kolby in the hospital. The Lord knew exactly what He was doing.

If you are struggling with addiction, grief, homelessness, or feel like your life is coming apart, please reach out. There is hope. There is help. Jesus Christ still transforms lives.
