11.09.25 "Choosing to Be Bold – Not Timid"

Most think that the world is a difficult place to be, and that "dangers" lurk unexpectedly around every corner. Perhaps the more spiritually inclined feel that they have God on their side to help them navigate this mine field of potential disasters. Many approach ACIM this way. However, ACIM's teaching is much more radical than that, and requires a completely different world view.

The dangerous world many perceive is entirely made up. "Do you like what you have made – a world of murder and attack through which you thread your timid way through constant dangers, alone and frightened, hoping at most that death will wait a little longer before it overtakes you and you disappear? You made this up." (Tx.20.19) I notice how Jesus here calls out our "timid" approach to life. Miracle Healers are bold and not timid (timid: showing a lack of courage or confidence; easily frightened). Jesus was bold and we are supposed to take him as a model for learning. I think we should stop thinking of Jesus as a lamb, and usually a sacrificial one at that. Perhaps a gorilla would be a better animal to actually associate with him. (lol)

I find that most ACIM students misinterpret Workbook lesson 244 "I am in danger nowhere in the world." (WkBk.244) They usually believe it means that their reality is not in this world hence, their reality is never in danger. I actually think it means appearances of danger are illusions of our own making and can be healed easily when we realize this and shift our thinking. Hence – no danger manifesting in the world.

Sometimes we will be guided to be bold and make a little "noise." We don't do it for ego reasons, or just to be bold for boldness' sake. We do it because the Holy Spirit needs to get a message across. However the timid will not act on these Divine ideas because ... well because they are timid. We are all the Christ. There is no reason to be frightened, to lack courage or confidence.

This "Christed" stance is something that needs to be actively chosen. You don't wait till you feel like the Christ, to then act that way. When you choose to be what you are, the Christ, the feelings will be there. "Let us go out and meet the newborn world, knowing that Christ has been reborn in it, and that the holiness of this rebirth will last forever." (Clar.Ep.5) Being timid is not being humble. True humility is accepting ourselves as God created us to be, as the Christ.
