Geomythology is now a recognized scientific discipline...the study of ancient myths, legends, and texts to uncover clues about real geological events.

The classic example is Troy: when the academic world insisted Homer's account was pure fiction, Heinrich Schliemann followed the mythic breadcrumbs and uncovered the actual city. Stories once dismissed as fantasy can hold records of earthquakes, floods, eruptions, and lost landscapes.

Sometimes the oldest tales carry the truest memories of Earth's past.
