"The Haunting of Riverdale" is the sixth episode of the first season of Archie's Weird Mysteries, which premiered on November 6, 1999.
The episode centers on a series of mysterious incidents in Riverdale, where citizens are found clutching overdue library book notices, causing widespread fear.
Archie Andrews investigates and discovers that the source of the terror is the ghost of Violet Stanhope, the former head librarian of the Riverdale Library, who continues to perform her duties from beyond the grave.

Jughead Jones is particularly targeted, as he has a book overdue for over ten years, making him a prime target for the ghost's wrath.
Archie, with help from Betty Cooper, uncovers that Violet's ghost is driven by unfinished business, which is revealed to be a traumatic encounter with Jughead during her lifetime that left him deeply frightened.
After a confrontation, Jughead and Violet have a heart-to-heart, leading to a resolution where Jughead promises to visit the library regularly, allowing Violet to finally rest in peace.
The episode marks the first appearance of the Riverdale Library as a central location in the series and is notable for not featuring Veronica Lodge or Dilton Doiley.
