The start of the Year of the Lord 1623 marked the second Thanksgiving. Establishing God's Commonwealth and the Law became central over the following years in creating commerce. This is how America was founded, and the Pilgrims had a vital method for determining the Will of God through justice and penance to resolve and overcome difficulties in the early days of Colonial America. By 1636, the primary issues were social order and the Pilgrims, having learned from the Puritans before them, becoming more tolerant of people. After penance to the Word of God and service with the elders' approval, they were restored. With the agreement that they had satisfied God, they could serve as an example of humility.
