Genesis 1:1 and John 1:1--The Same God, Analyzing Scripture

On today’s program of Analyzing Scripture from Diggin’ Deeper, we’ll explore two powerful verses that set the foundation for understanding God, creation, and the role of Christ in both: Genesis 1:1 and John 1:1. These verses, though separated by the entire Old and New Testaments, are deeply connected in their portrayal of the beginning of the universe, the nature of God, and the eternal presence of Christ.

Both of these verses begin with the phrase "In the beginning," establishing a thematic link. But as we’ll see, John’s Gospel expands the understanding of the “beginning” found in Genesis. Together, they invite us to explore not only the what and how of creation, but also the who—particularly, the central role of Jesus Christ in God’s eternal plan.
