Investigator claims people came from Europe and elsewhere and paid exorbitant sums to murder innocents, with a higher fee paid to kill children amid Siege of Sarajevo.

Wealthy foreigners reportedly paid tens of thousands of dollars to shoot civilians with sniper rifles amid one of the bloodiest massacres of the Bosnian War, prosecutors in Italy have alleged.

An inquiry led by Italian journalist Ezio Gavazzeni is looking for Italians who took part in the alleged atrocities, dubbed “sniper tourism” or “human safaris” carried out during the Siege of Sarajevo from 1992 to 1995.

“We are talking about wealthy people, with reputations – businessmen – who during the siege of Sarajevo paid to kill unarmed civilians,” Gavazzeni said, according to Metro.co.uk.

“They left Trieste for a manhunt and then returned to their respectable daily lives,” the Milan-based writer claimed.
