Tucker Carlson Goes After Ben Shapiro and Questions the Right to Retirement in the U.S.

Conservative commentator Tucker Carlson launched sharp criticism at Ben Shapiro following Shapiro’s recent statements on retirement in the United States. Carlson argued that Shapiro is essentially demanding that Americans continue working for decades solely to pay off a “fifty-year mortgage,” denying them the possibility of retiring with dignity.

In his remarks, Carlson called it “crazy” that it is considered normal to work from age 20 to 65 — about 45 years of working life — only to then depend on Social Security benefits for the rest of one’s life. According to him, arguing that people should retire at 65 is a “stupid” idea, except in cases of health problems.

With a defiant tone, Carlson questioned the moral authority of those who want to dictate when a worker should retire: “How dare you tell me when I should retire? Who are you?”

His comments reignite the debate over economic insecurity and the increasing pressure on American workers, who face more and more barriers to achieving a secure retirement.
