Trump defends freedom of speech by supporting Tucker Carlson’s editorial independence

President Donald Trump reaffirmed his defense of freedom of expression by stating that Tucker Carlson has the right to interview whomever he chooses, even controversial figures like Nick Fuentes. “You can’t tell him who to interview. People have to decide,” he said, emphasizing that the public should draw its own conclusions.

Trump clarified that on one occasion Kanye West brought Fuentes unannounced to a dinner at Mar-a-Lago, insisting that he did not know the activist would attend. According to the president, meeting and talking with different kinds of people is part of Carlson’s work: “Some people are controversial, others are not. I’m not controversial, and I like it that way.”

The president also mentioned that the mayor of New York has requested a meeting with his administration in Washington to work on joint solutions, assuring that his goal is “for everything to work out well for New York.”

With this message, Trump seeks to distance himself from political censorship and highlight the importance of open debate in the United States.
