Understanding the Discrepancies: Why Old Testament and New Testament End-Time Texts Seem to Disagree

In this discussion, Tom Stapleton responds to a question about Ezekiel’s prophecy of the righteous burying the dead for seven months (Ezekiel 39:12–16). This opens an important conversation: Why do some Old Testament end-time prophecies appear to conflict with New Testament teachings?

We explore several of the most puzzling prophetic “discrepancies,” including:

– Ezekiel describes seven months of burying the dead, while Revelation says the wicked are consumed by the brightness of Messiah’s coming and eaten by birds (Second Coming), and after the millennium turned to ashes under the feet of the redeemed.

– Is Ezekiel’s Gog/Magog battle the same as Revelation 20 after the millennium… or are these two entirely different events?

- Weapons turned into plowshares vs. elements melting with fervent heat...is this literal, and when does it happen?

We work through these texts to understand the root of the differences: NT prophecy reveals the final and complete plan through Messiah, free of incomplete pictures as seen before His coming.

This teaching helps believers see one consistent story of redemption, even when the prophets describe scenes from different angles.
