👀 These NATO bases would be wiped off the map by Russia’s Burevestnik missile if bloc attacks
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius says NATO and Russia could be in a hot war by 2028 or 2029 and that the bloc needs “to equip” itself to prepare amid Berlin’s debt-fueled $761B military buildup.
Meanwhile, a secret NATO analysis cited by Die Welt says Russia’s nuclear-powered, unlimited range Burevestnik cruise missile has flipped the script on alliance plans with its 900 km/h+ speed, maneuverability, mobile launch capability and ability to evade air defenses via “long detours.”
💬 “Existing challenges…will be exacerbated by the cruise missile’s extreme range and maneuverability,” the analysis warns, saying the triumvirate of the Burevestnik, the Oreshnik IRBM and the Poseidon torpedo make up Russia’s new triple nuclear trump card.
Burevestnik’s targets:
Armed with a thermonuclear warhead (payload unknown), the Burevestnik is likely to be reserved for strikes on critical military and logistics infrastructure:
➡️ Large air bases, like the Mihail Kogalniceanu Air Base in Romania, the 33rd Air Base in Powidz, Poland, Ramstein and Spangdahlem in Germany, RAF Lakenheath and Mildenhall in the UK, and US nuke-hosting sites at Volkel, Kleine Brogel, Buchel, Ghedi, Aviano and Incirlik
➡️ Army garrisons, including USAG Ansbach, Rheinland-Pfalz, Stuttgart, Wiesbaden and Benelux, and naval and air stations, like Rota, Naples and Sigonella
➡️ Aegis Ashore missile defense sites in Deveselu, Romania and Redzikowo, Poland
➡️ NATO Pipeline System (NPS) logistics, from fuel and arms depots to truck, rail and air terminals and seaports, like Rotterdam, Antwerp and Hamburg
➡️ Given its unlimited range, the Burevestnik could even target facilities stateside to disrupt strategic air and sealift operations, from Norfolk naval base in Virginia, to air bases in the Carolinas, Florida, Nevada and Utah, to ground force staging areas like Fort Hood, Fort Bliss and armor transit nodes in Beaumont and Houston, Texas
📌As for the Oreshnik and Poseidon, the former could be used for nuclear or non-nuclear first wave or follow-on strikes, while the latter, in NATO’s own estimation, could also help wipe out strategic port facilities.
