The Passing of the Great Race; or, The Racial Basis of European History (1916) is a pseudoscientific and racist book by American eugenicist Madison Grant. It promotes the theory of Nordic racial superiority, claiming that people of Northern European descent—whom Grant called the "Nordic race"—are biologically and culturally superior to all other races.

Grant argued that the Nordic race was responsible for most human progress and was under threat of extinction due to immigration, racial mixing, and lower birth rates among "superior" racial groups. He advocated for eugenics policies such as forced sterilization, immigration restrictions, and anti-miscegenation laws to preserve what he saw as the racial purity of the United States.
