The US Environmental Working Groups tested the cord blood of ten babies and found an average of 267 contaminants in the blood including mercury, fire retardants, pesticides and the teflon chemical PFOA.

180 cause cancer, 217 are toxic to the brain and nervous system and 208 cause birth defects or abnormal development in animals.

Blood tests did not show how the chemicals got into the mothers' bodies or what their effects may have on the babies.

99% of food chemicals introduced since 2000 were greenlit for use by food and chemical companies rather than properly reviewed by the Food and Drug Administration.

Negligent governments and manufacturers of toxic products must be held to account.
