Protestant Proliferation

Protestant history is one long chain of “I don’t like your Bible‑reading, so I’ll start my own Bible church.”
Martin Luther didn’t like the Catholic Church and, claiming “Scripture alone” and “no fixed rules for the interpretation of the Word of God” (LW 31, p. 341), launched Lutheranism. John Calvin rejected key Lutheran positions and built the Reformed/Calvinist churches. Henry VIII didn’t like being denied a marriage annulment and created Anglicanism. John Smyth disliked Anglicanism and founded the Baptists. William Miller, a Baptist, rejected Baptist readings and launched the Adventist movement.
