They Worked for 300 Years Without a Break, Then They Met a Human

The X'tani freighter Stalwart Vow has been running for 300 years without a single break. Its alien crew is exhausted, burned out, and the ship is mysteriously falling apart.

Desperate, they hire Chief Miller, a human engineer, to fix the failing systems. His diagnosis is shocking: the ship isn't broken, the crew is. His solution is even more illogical to the workaholic X'tani: a mandatory "vacation."

The captain calls it "purposeful non-function" and a catastrophic waste of time, but he agrees to a test. Can one human teach an entire species how to relax, and will it save them before a real crisis strikes?
