The Running Man - Running Off The Rails

As this review will make painfully clear, The Running Man remake really disappointed me. I didn’t even expect that much from it, but Glen Powell, the charisma sucking void at the heart of this charmless, generic action film remake, did everything in his limited repertoire to drag this movie down. But to be fair, I don’t think TOO much blame falls on his shoulders. The creators of The Running Man (2025) seemed intent on taking out all of the charm, the heart, and the uniqueness that the original had. I don’t think the 1987 original Running Man starring Arnold Schwarzenegger was all that good, but it at least tried to do something creative. All the new Running Man could offer us was generic, nameless bad guys and flat characters that don’t change from the first scene to the last. Again, I didn’t expect much more from this movie than an updated, simple action flick. And yet, somehow, I still came away with a mountain of disappointment.
