China’s UBTech ships world’s first mass batch of humanoid robot workers

UBTECH Robotics has shipped hundreds of its Walker S2 humanoid robots to active industrial facilities in Shenzhen, marking the first large-scale deployment of robots designed to resemble and move like humans.

Production ramped up in mid-November, and UBTECH plans to deliver 500 robots by the end of December to meet strong demand from automakers and logistics companies such as BYD, Geely Auto, FAW Volkswagen, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, and Foxconn.

The company secured 800 million yuan (~$113 million) in orders this year, including major deals from firms in Sichuan, Guangxi, and Hubei, reflecting the growing interest in automating tasks requiring human-like mobility.

UBTECH’s financial performance is improving, with H1 2025 revenue at 621 million yuan (up 27.5%), gross profit of 217 million yuan (up 17.3%), and narrowed losses of 440 million yuan (down 18.5%), alongside a 150% stock price increase in Hong Kong, Interesting Engineering has reported.

As the first robotics company listed on the Hong Kong exchange in 2023, UBTECH’s rapid rollout and market success reinforce its leadership in the global robotics industry.
