According to a probable cause statement, Cathey went into the store, took two knives from a shelf and stabbed the victim in the head. As aid was being rendered by other customers, Gaeng was stabbed again.

Breckenridge Hills police say Marybeth Gaeng, 65, was found with multiple stab wounds on her face at the Family Dollar at 9730 St. Charles Rock Road Tuesday. She died Tuesday night.

The suspect, 34-year-old Cameka Cathey, was located a short time later at a nearby Phillips 66 and was arrested, police said.

Mark Luckie, a digital strategist and former journalist, says he accepted the job offer from Facebook reluctantly.

But as a black employee, he became disillusioned with his time at the company. After about a year at the company, he decided to quit. And before his last day in mid-November, he wrote a long memo that he sent to the company’s staff. The memo is in the news this week after Luckie made it public on — where else? — Facebook.

Luckie argues that the company is “failing its black employees and its black users,” allegedly by excluding them from events and the important work that guides Facebook’s service.

Luckie also spotlights the company’s low number of black employees, part of a long-standing problem with the representation of minorities at tech companies. The company announced over the summer that 4 percent of its employees were black, but only 1 percent and 2 percent of its employees in technical and leadership roles were black.

Jay-Z and his attorneys at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan are accusing the American Arbitration Association of lacking a slate of African-American arbitrators capable of handling “large and complex cases,” contradicting the organization’s claims about its diversity.

After Iconix commenced the arbitration, Jay-Z and his attorneys began reviewing available arbitrators on the AAA’s search platform, in order to name four selections to a panel of 12 that would ultimately be narrowed by all the parties. But he discovered that he was unable to identify a single African-American arbitrator on the “large and complex cases” roster qualified to preside over the arbitration.

“Thus, the AAA provided petitioners with one choice for an arbitrator from Mr. Carter’s class—which, of course, is no choice at all,” the filing said. “The AAA’s failure to provide a venire of arbitrators that includes more than a token number of African-Americans renders the arbitration provision in the contract void as against public policy,” the lawyers wrote in an accompanying memorandum.

People would open up the freight cars as soon as those trains hit the brakes. Man, there’d be TVs, baby clothes, everything. All types of manufacturers shipped their goods on those tracks. We were just helping move the product, you know what I’m saying? Inquisitive kids from an impoverished neighborhood. Not drug dealers or thieves — entrepreneurs. I’m not condoning that sort of behavior. I’m just giving you a vision of our neighborhood.
