This demo shows sodium metal reacting with chlorine gas to form sodium chloride. Sodium is a dangerously reactive alkali metal, and chlorine is a toxic halogen gas. Yet when combined, they produce ordinary table salt — a stable, edible compound used in food, de‑icing roads, and chemical manufacturing.

Safety note: Sodium and chlorine are extremely hazardous; this experiment should only be performed in a controlled laboratory with proper PPE and ventilation.
